Sky signal / recording issues?

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

If you're having issues with signal, picture or recordings on your Sky box, our first suggestion is always to restart your box. In order to do this, perform the below steps:

1. Put your Sky box into 'standby' mode by pressing the Sky button and then the power button on your Sky remote.

2. Turn your Sky box off at the plug and pull the plug out of the socket.

3. Wait for 5 minutes.

4. Plug your Sky box back into the socket and turn the plug on.

5. Your sky box should show a yellow light - if not press the Sky button and then the power button on your Sky remote.

6. Wait for 5 minutes - your sky box is initialising and will be ready to use shortly.

7. Press the Sky button and then the power button on your Sky remote. Your Sky box should show a green light. This means it's back up and running.

8. See if the problem has been resolved. If not, it's time to perform a planner rebuild!

We're now going to teach you how to perform a planner rebuild on your Sky standard, Sky+, Sky HD or Sky Multiroom equipment. A planner rebuild is used to rebuild a database of which recordings you have on your Sky box as well as various other housekeeping events. It does not remove recordings from your Sky box.

To perform a planner rebuild, perform the below steps:

For Sky boxes with the latest software

1. Press Services on your remote.

2. Go to Help.

3. Select Sky+ Rebuild.

4. Press Select - this will start the rebuild.

If you cannot find the rebuild option using the above instructions, you may not have the latest software and you should follow the instructions below

1. Press Services on your remote.

2. Press 0, 0, 1.

3. Press Select (you should now be in the hidden menu).

4. Press 7 (Sky+ Rebuild).

5. Press Select - an on-screen message will be displayed.

6. Press Select - this will start the rebuild.
